Alastair

Age (estimate): 2-3 years

Breed/Info: Great Pyrenees/Lab Mix

Every once in a while a dog grabs you and just won’t let you go. Something speaks to you and tells you that you can’t turn away and must fight until justice is found.

You see, these are pictures of Alastair sitting amidst his family’s unwanted items. He was discarded like trash with all of the other items they didn’t want anymore. No food, water, or even shelter for him to hide away in during the 100+ degree days. Yet, he still waited patiently for them to come back for him.

Welcome to your future, Alastair! It is no longer your job to be the protector.

His neck is going to need some time to heal from the embedded collar, but the tissue looks great and we expect a full recovery. We estimate him to be between 6-7 years old. While he isn’t a baby, he has a lot of life left in him. He is with a foster now and we love watching him improve. He is getting lots of food to build up his strength, walking is a bit of a task for him at the moment but he will get stronger each day. He is a total love bug through it all even though humans have totally failed him his entire life.

Aphrodite

Age (estimate): 1 Year

Breed/Info: English Pointer

We were tagged on a video of 3 babies being dragged into Harris County Shelter on ropes! This shelter was already 200%+ over capacity and owner surrenders are the first to go on the euthanasia list. As it turns out, the owner had already dragged 3 others into the shelter. Obviously, we were livid and had to do something. She would do so much better in a foster home if you cant adopt! FOSTER NEEDED

$300

Bob

Age (Estimate):  5 Months

Breed/Info: Terrier Mix

One of our former adopters was working at a school in south Dallas this morning when she saw a janitor carrying this baby out in a box. When she asked him what he was doing, he said the dog was trying to get in the building, so he was “putting him out,” and that he would “find his way.”

She couldn’t leave him behind, so we tried to help find his owner. Unfortunately we couldnt so he needs a new home. He is pretty well socialized and a jokester!

$300

Carmen

Carmen & Dixie are sisters who were owner surrenders right before the hurricane. We decided we could help them so here they are and we are so happy to tell you that after all they have been through they have not lost their ability to love! And boy do they LOVE! If you’re looking a cuddly lovable dog this girl is the perfect one for you! FOSTER NEEDED

Colbi

Age (estimate): 6 years

Breed/Info: Beagle Mix

Cobi was an owner surrender by a nice couple who had just had a baby. They loved her but worried about Cobi potentially resource guarding with the new child. Thankfully, they held onto her while we waited for room to open at the rescue. She really is the sweetest dog. She loves people and simply wants to please any person she comes across! She can be dog selective so she will need to go to a home with either compatible dogs or be an only child. Foster needed.

Adoption Fee: $150

Dak

Age (Estimate):  5 Years

Bread/Info: Weimaraner / Pointer Mix

Look who just had a late start to football season! Meet Dak. He has been busy exploring his new temporary home at the rescue and having a blast.

Dak is 5, and although had been adopted from Dallas Animal Services, he was sadly returned. He does great with dogs and kids, but sounds like he needs to be exercised and a loving home. He is a little chunky at 90 pounds but a complete love bug! He comes when called, knows how to sit, and is house trained. Foster Needed.

Demeter

Age (estimate): 3 Years

Breed/Info: English Pointer

We were tagged on a video of 3 babies being dragged into Harris County Shelter on ropes! This shelter was already 200%+ over capacity and owner surrenders are the first to go on the euthanasia list. As it turns out, the owner had already dragged 3 others into the shelter. Obviously, we were livid and had to do something. We believe Demeter is the matriarch of the family. It took this scared mama  almost a hour before we could coax her inside, but she is doing so well now. While we do have space at the rescue center, these dogs have all already been severely traumatized as owner surrenders, and would do SO much better in homes. If you can help by fostering one of them, we would truly appreciate the help in changing their lives for the better. Foster needed.

Their foster family has been working on crate and potty training, so the process will not be new to them.

Freckles

Age (Estimate):  2 Years

Breed/Info: Blue Heeler

Freckles was saved from one hoarding property, just to be placed in another. This sweet shy girl first lived tied to a tree with 12 other dogs. Then was “rescued” to be placed in a boarding facility with over 270 animals. She’s safe now with us at our rescue center where she is enjoying a couch all to herself, but we know she’d prefer to be with a foster a start to learn to trust humans again.

Gabby

Age (Estimate):  1 Years

Gabby and her brothers were owner surrendered to a small rural shelter and were going to be euthanized when one of our volunteers asked for a day to get them into a rescue. Meet Harley. She was left to fend for herself on the harsh streets of south Texas, until a Good Samaritan happened upon her and turned her life around. With a tropical storm set to hit her neighborhood, we couldn’t leave her behind. Harley was scooped up and rushed to the vet by one of our volunteers and she is well on the road to recovery. According to our vet, she is NOT contagious. What she needs now is someone willing to give her the love and attention she deserves, as well as refuge from the harsh elements.

Jaime

Age (Estimate):  7 Years

Bread/Info: Blue Heeler

Jaime also came from the hoarding case where the “rescue coordinator” was holding 270 dogs, stacked in kennels, in a warehouse. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but she’s only 20lbs, and is a shorty little thing! This girl needs to put on 10lbs to be at a healthy weight which we are working on. We were told that both Jaime and Aggie left the building with wagging tails and a happy playful spirit!  What amazing creatures dogs are, to not hold a grudge against humans. She isn’t a spring chicken, so we hope you will consider helping out this playful older girl. That smile says it all! FOSTER NEEDED.

$300

Jewel

She has a severe case of Demodex mange, which is not contagious, and a skin infection that we have already started to treat & will be cleared up in no time, now we just need to work on healing her broken heart. This girl is a true diamond in the rough.

King Arthur

Age (Estimate):  10 Months

Bread/Info: Border Collie

King Arthur is the sweetest, happiest little border collie you will ever meet! This little guy is still just a baby (likely just under 1yo), and he lost everything during the flooding.

Even with a dislocated hip (likely caused by a car) and losing his family and home to the floods in Houston, he is still super playful, loving, and will be a submissive dog in a pack. He is a little sensitive to correction (from other dogs and humans), but is otherwise the happiest, and friendliest boy you will meet. Did we mention he LOVES being with other dogs?! Especially puppies!

$300

Lucille

Age (Estimate):  1 Years

Lucky Day

Age (Estimate):  3 Months

Foster or adopt Mercy! Foster needed!

Professor

Age (estimate): 1 Year

Breed/Info: English Pointer

You have probably heard about bait dogs, but have you ever seen a dog with “BAIT” tattooed their ear?! We hadn’t, until we met Professor. From observation, we believe he has spent most of his life outside, and is nervous when people bring their hands near his head. He is not aggressive, just scared and nervous. Once you give him an ear rub and prove you are good, he is your best friend. This sweet boy deserves to learn the only thing his ear will be used as bait for is ear rubs and kisses.

$300

Riesling

Age (estimate): 2 years

Breed/Info: Terrier/Lab Mix

Riesling is the momma of our 8 wine babies! She came to us along with her pups from Dallas Animal Services. Poor girl sustained a ruptured mammary gland and was then separated from her babies because of it. She wasn’t getting the proper care she so needed so soon it became infected. And of course, they soon tried to euthanize her because she ended up septic. However, we stepped in and said “I DON’T THINK SO!” We soon rescued her along with her babies and all are doing just wonderful! Momma is still recovering but you’d never know! She doesn’t let her wound get in the way of hanging with her fellow fur friends and climbing in anyone’s lap that will have her. Which is obviously everyone because how can you say no to those baby seal eyes!!!
