Meet Maple — a Gentle, Loving 3-Year-Old Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Maple came into a local shelter as a stray on 10/16, sick, scared, and heartbreakingly sweet. Even while feeling her worst, she remained gentle, affectionate, and eager for human comfort.

Shelter veterinarians diagnosed her with a respiratory illness — suspected pneumonia with bronchopneumonia confirmed by radiographs. It was fully treatable, nothing a dog should ever lose their life over, yet Maple was given a euthanasia deadline of 11/07 simply because she was sick and the shelter lacked space.

We got her out just in time, and the difference has been incredible.

After seeing our vet, starting proper medication, and settling into a safe, loving foster home, Maple is already doing so much better — truly back to her normal, happy self.
